Too Shy for Tie-Dye?

Fit Modeling consumes 90 percent of my work schedule, but every once in a while I have the opportunity to do a line or look-book shoot. I've had the privilege of working with Genetic Denim for the past few seasons. Ali Fatourechi is the Creative Director behind the brand that continues to produce luxe  denim fabrics, innovative washes and an amazing variety of silhouettes. The tie-dye denim trend is one of my favorites of the season, so I was excited that Genetic would be offering a range of styles. Shot be Randall Slavin, a very accomplished photographer (more on him later), here are my faves for Spring/Summer 2012.

St. Germain Skinny Margarita

The women in our family love tequila. It could have something to do with our "latina" heritage, love for mexican food, or maybe just our spicy temperaments! Our favorite way to drink tequila is the St. Germain Skinny Margarita. Absolutely no Sweet & Sour mix allowed!! It is light and refreshing, and not too sugary like the original recipe.

Ingredients:
2 limes (for lime juice and garnish)
2 oz of tequila (I prefer Patron Silver)
1 oz St. Germain Liquor
Splash of Club Soda
Sugar for rim garnish

To start, squeeze one whole lime into a bowl and set aside. Use the squeezed lime to wet the rim of your glass. Dip into sugar or salt to coat the rim. I prefer sugar to salt for a little added sweetness. Fill glass with ice, pour 2 oz of Patron Silver Tequila and 1 oz of St. Germain over ice .  Add the squeezed lime juice. Cut the second lime into wedges. I then squeeze about 2 or 3 more wedges into the glass, and place one on the rim for a garnish. Top it of with a splash of Club Soda.

Golden Girl

Another busy but fun weekend, and of course it went by too fast. We had a fun night out in Laguna Beach with new friends on Saturday night, and my friend's baby shower on Sunday. I haven't seen some of the girls since our wedding on March 31 (posts on our wedding soon), including one of my best friends from New York, Candice Kumai. She has a cookbook coming out this October so I'll be sure to remind you all to go buy it when the release date gets closer!

This jacket from Zara instantly reminded me of the Golden Girls when I first saw it. Maybe a little gaudy but fabulous! I think by paring it with loose denim shorts, the look was a little more casual like the vibe on a Saturday night in Laguna.

Crochet and Cutouts

Alexander Wang Cut-Out Tee, XTaren Crochet Shorts, Vintage Necklace, Isabella Wedge

This weekend my mom was in town with her best friend which meant girl time! We shopped, ran and hiked Runyon, went to the beach in Corona Del Mar and visited plenty of good restaurants. My moms visit reminded me of these crochet shorts I found in a little boutique in Laguna Beach last year. The necklace I bought from Atlantisdrygoods.com, the online store of Judy Aldridge (Atlantishome.com) and Jane Aldridge (seaofshoes.com). They sell some fabulous one-of-a-kind pieces. I am obsessed with these new, super comfy wedges from ShoeMint, designed by Rachel Bilson (I've been a fan since the OC days!).

Crochet vs Lace

Crochet continues to emerge at numerous Ready-to-Wear fashion shows, from the likes of Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang and Comme Des Garcons. In the past, it could easily come across dowdy, but it has taken a turn for the better. I still am partial to lace. It is more feminine, delicate and whimsical. However, this season's crochet styles have made me take a second look! Luckily, there is plenty of both fabrics available in just about every boutique nationwide.

June Bloom

Dress {Show Me Your Mumu, Singer22}, Ash Wedges, Tencel Shirt {Elevensees, Anthropologie}, Oliver People Sunglasses

I love dresses but don't often get to wear them at work! In fittings I am usually trying on denim, or need to be wearing denim to try on tops, so dresses are not practical.  I am loving this Tencel shirt. It is the perfect light jacket alternative over summery dresses.

Join the Tribe

The Ikat trend has been around for a few years now and is still going strong. I don't know if it's all the color combinations or the prints, but every time I see Ikat or Tribal inspired items it makes me smile. Perfect for sunshine and summer.
